Importance of Proper Maintenance

Oil is the lifeblood of any internal combustion engine.  Before delivery, we replaced the oil with Chevron Delo 400 XSP SAE 15W-40.  We chose this heavy duty engine oil for its ability to perform under harsh conditions.  

We recommend your initial oil change at 10 hours of use

Whatever brand you choose, we strongly recommend using a 15W-40 full synthetic grade oil to protect your investment.  We recommend oil change intervals at least every 50 hours of operation with a new filter if equipped 

We recommend readjustment of all bolts after five to 10 hours of use.  Special attention should be given to the swing motor bolts

We recommend readjustment of the drive tracks after five to 10 hours of use.  The drive tracks should have no more than one inch of deflection

We recommend replacement of all filters as needed or at least every 50 hours of operation

• The grease fittings should be greased every five to 10 hours of operation
• Special attention should be given to the slewing bearing which should be greased liberally every 90 degrees of a complete rotation of the excavator body
• The left grease fitting is for the slewing bearing and the right is for the slew motor
• We recommend the use of molybdenum grease for its heavy-duty, high-pressure protection

Apply a thin grease coating to all hydraulic cylinders if your machine is parked in the elements for an extended period.  Rusted cylinders quickly destroy seals requiring cylinder replacements

We recommend all electrical connections should be coated with dielectric grease as needed to ensure reliable operation

We recommend replacement of the hydraulic oil and filter every 100 hours of operation.  Before delivery, we filled your machine with a high quality AW 46 hydraulic oil

We recommend the engine valve lash be checked and adjusted as needed every 100 hours of operation for gas engines.  Rato specifications are found on the product info page.

Diesel engine valves should be adjusted should you experience loud tapping during startup, loss of power or excessive exhaust smoke during operation

We recommend all coolant should be replaced every 5 years or 250 hours of operation.  We recommend using a quality coolant such as Peak or Prestone.  All other recommendations are found in the individual product manuals
